Transparency

Transparent Civil Society Initiative

In Germany, there are no uniform disclosure requirements for civil society organizations. In 2010, on the initiative of Transparency International Deutschland e.V., numerous stakeholders from civil society and academia defined ten basic points that every civil society organization should make accessible to the public. These include the articles of association, the names of key decision-makers and information on the source of funds, use of funds and personnel structure.

So far, 1998 organizations have joined the initiative (as of June 2025) with the aim of making their own work transparent for the public and for donors, thereby strengthening trust and credibility.
