Results of the 2024 volunteer assignment

Our FinnDomingo volunteer programme is always about supporting selected Chilean animal welfare organizations – but also about learning from each other and promoting mutual understanding.

At the end of October 2024, German vet Aileen from Lower Saxony flew to Chile and spent three weeks as a FinnDomingo volunteer accompanying a team of Chilean vets who specialize in mobile spay and neuter campaigns.

The team founded the organization EMA (Enemigos del Maltrato Animal = Enemies of Animal Abuse), whose purpose is to offer castrations at a reasonable price and –very importantly– with a good medical standard at the same time.

Thus, people from the poorer sections of society can afford to have their animals spayed or neutered without having to worry about their pet, because, unfortunately, it is not uncommon for such campaigns to be offered by charlatans, which of course often leads to complications and consequently causes mistrust among the owners.

EMA’s work, however, is impeccable and deserves full recognition!

Right after the volunteer assignment, FinnDomingo e.V. passed this professional assessment on to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Universidad de Concepción, whose Clínica Veterinaria relies on cooperation with reputable local veterinary teams as part of the training internships for its students. Our association has been known for years in the Clínica Veterinaria as an objective and experienced partner, which is why such information is valued and taken into account.
